The Montgomery Academy community gathers for a Back to School BBQ

The Parents of the Academy (POA) is an organization that provides a structure for parental involvement in the activities of our school. Our goals are:

  • to promote volunteerism of our parents as we strive toward high standards for our children
  • to encourage our parents to give freely of their time, talents, education and knowledge to programs, projects and financial assistance in a way that will constitute better relations between students, faculty, parents and the community
  • to promote the image of the Academy through the encouragement of scholastic excellence and development of good citizenship

Without the diligent efforts of our parent volunteers, none of these goals could be attained.

The influence of the POA can be seen in numerous areas of our school - providing traffic patrol at each campus, supporting athletic and fine arts endeavors and funding for continuing education and professional development for our faculty.

The volunteer opportunities for the POA are endless. From athletics to fine arts, there is something to interest everyone. Events such as the Wrapping Paper Sale, the Eagle Gala and the Lower and Middle School Book Fair provide great fellowship and fun for our parents. Ongoing projects such as the Lower School supply store, athletic events and library volunteers provide excellent opportunities to really feel a part of the Academy's community.

Parental involvement is crucial in our children's lives. Together we can make a difference in their lives and in the furthering of MA's pursuit of excellence.
