Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship

The Montgomery Academy invites and welcomes rising 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students to apply for the Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship.

The Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship is a merit-based award of $10,000 applicable exclusively as credit towards tuition at The Montgomery Academy. It celebrates academically strong students who demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and a profound commitment to service, both within and beyond our school walls. Up to two scholarships will be awarded each year.

This scholarship is made available by the generosity of the family of the late General Will Hill Tankersley.

Eligibility:

  • Open to students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grade enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year at The Montgomery Academy.
  • Applicants must have demonstrated extraordinary acts of leadership and service both within and outside of the school community.
  • Applicants should have a strong academic record.
  • Both current and newly enrolled students* are encouraged to apply.

*Please note that any new student accepting this scholarship will not be eligible to compete in athletics for the first year of enrollment as per AHSAA rules. This is to ensure compliance with the regulations governing high school sports.

To Apply, Please Complete the Following by August 30, 2024:

  1. Submit the application form below detailing the applicant's leadership and service experience.
  2. Provide at least two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from someone beyond the MA faculty and staff. Letters must be submitted by the individual providing the recommendation (not the applicant) via email to scholarships@montgomeryacademy.org.

Essay Requirement:

  • Finalists will be invited to complete a handwritten essay on campus in September. Multiple time slots will be offered to work with school schedules.

Along with these components, the review committee will also review academic transcripts that are available through the school or through the admissions office.
