JV/Middle School Assistant Baseball Coach
Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a skilled, dynamic and experienced baseball coach to assist with the effective administration and growth of its Baseball program. The Assistant Coach position is not a full-time position unless combined with another administrative or teaching duty at the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of baseball.
- Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with baseball.
- Assist with the management and supervision of athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Train and guide players in alignment with expectations set out by the Varsity Head Coach of the Baseball program.
- Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to AHSAA guidelines.
- Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
- Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
- Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in baseball during away games.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least three to five years of baseball coaching is preferred.
- Experience in an independent school setting is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to The Montgomery Academy's mission and core values.
- Knowledge of current best practices in athletic administration, including compliance with AHSAA regulations.
