Varsity Girls Golf Head Coach
Summary of the Position: The Montgomery Academy is seeking a skilled, dynamic and experienced Girls golf coach to oversee the effective administration and growth of all aspects of the varsity girls golf program in addition to additional administrative or teaching responsibilities. The Head Girls Golf Coach position is not a full-time position unless combined with another administrative or teaching duty at the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyze, demonstrate, and explain basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of golf.
- Instruct student-athletes in the safety practices associated with golf.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Work to recruit other students within The Montgomery Academy community to participate in the girls golf program.
- Understand and implement all appropriate rules and regulations according to AHSAA guidelines.
- Work with administrators and faculty to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student-athletes.
- Maintain proper control and discipline in a positive manner by establishing good, wholesome rapport through healthy, professional relationships among students involved in athletic programs.
- Monitor and enforce student-athlete eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents/guardians, students, other coaches, administrators, and faculty.
- Work with the Director of Athletics to schedule competitions and coordinate travel arrangements.
- Instruct student-athletes in the proper care and use of materials and equipment.
- Oversee the process of ordering, cleaning, repairing, and storing athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Accompany and supervise student-athletes during athletic competitions in golf.
- Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with the student handbook.
- Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 3 to 5 years of golf coaching is preferred. Experience in independent schools is encouraged.
- Experience in an independent school setting is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to The Montgomery Academy's mission and core values.
- Knowledge of current best practices in athletic administration, including compliance with AHSAA regulations.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to contribute to another significant teaching/administrative duty at the school.
