The Arts

MA embraces both the visual and performing arts, encouraging students to discover their creative potential and avenues for self-expression. The arts are critical to students’ development of the collaborative and creative skills they will need to thrive in the 21st century. Exposure to the arts creates an appreciation that will enrich students’ understanding of the human experience throughout their lives.

Performing Arts
Music, drama, and speech & debate give students opportunities to explore different dimensions of human performance. Students’ skills in these areas are developed through intense work in the classroom and opportunities for public performance and competition. Optional onsite instrumental lessons are offered at the Lower and Middle Schools. At the Upper School, our student performers frequently earn local, regional and national recognition.

Our performing arts programs are award-winning: the choral program is recognized nationally; our speech & debate team has won 14 state championships and is counted among the top 1% of programs in the country.

Visual Arts
Our K–12 art program prepares students for a lifetime of creative activity. Our discipline-based approach emphasizes art production and appreciation through a variety of traditional and contemporary experiences, art history and art criticism.

Well-equipped art facilities ensure students receive well-rounded exposure and instruction in every major visual art discipline. Guidance and training in technical and conceptual skills develop students into critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, compassionate human beings and life-long learners.
