Upper School
MA’s Upper School is a vibrant learning community, with strong emphasis on both learning and community. Teachers employ a variety of teaching methods, some traditional and some employing the latest technological tools. Whatever the approach, each course is devoted to increasing a student’s assertiveness and creativity as a thinker. Much time is also devoted to students’ honing their skills as collaborators. Projects combine with more familiar kinds of assessments to ensure that graduates of MA take with them a deep and varied set of abilities as well as a solid base of knowledge.
The Upper School community is based on a strong advising program. A values curriculum, along with community service projects and fun activities, strengthens the bonds that begin to form when freshmen enter the advising groups where they will remain for all four years of their high school experience. These groups and their advisors become very close as the years go by.
An important element of our community is trust, fostered and underscored by the Honor Code. Representatives from each grade, elected by their peers, oversee its implementation. With the Honor Code as a guide, Upper School students strive to reach the highest standards of ethical behavior and academic honesty.
Achievement, encouraged and celebrated at every opportunity, is the primary value of the Upper School. Come join our community of accomplishment!
