The Montgomery Academy Announces
New Upper School Director

The Montgomery Academy is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward Billingslea as the new Upper School Director, effective July 1, 2013. His appointment was the result of a nationwide search that took into consideration critical input from The Montgomery Academy school community.

Mr. Billingslea has significant academic and leadership experience having spent the past thirteen years as a teacher, coach, Guidance Counselor and Dean of Students at the distinguished Lovett School in Atlanta, GA. He received a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in counseling from Alabama State University and completed an educational leadership program at the University of Georgia.

Mr. Billingslea and his wife, Danielle, have two daughters: Kori (age 6) and Kayla (age 3).

“Ed Billingslea's stalwart leadership at The Lovett School, his commitment to honor, and his devotion to his students inspired our faculty and students,” said Head of School Dave Farace. “We are delighted to welcome Ed and his family to our school community.”

“I am excited and humbled to serve The Montgomery Academy in my role as Upper School Director. As I strive for excellence as a servant leader I look forward to working with the Academy in advancing the mission of the school ‘the Pursuit of Excellence,’” said Billingslea. “My role is to nurture our students academically, artistically, athletically, and emotionally. I feel blessed and prepared for this opportunity to serve The Montgomery Academy.”
