Annual Giving
Annual Giving is a vital program designed to help offset portions of the annual costs of operating The Montgomery Academy while providing the donor tax deductibility. As the name implies, this appeal is undertaken annually, usually in the fall, and is officially closed at the end of every fiscal year, June 30.
In an effort to keep the Academy experience accessible, the Academy - like most independent schools - charges tuition that covers only about 91 percent of the total cost of educating each student. The Academy relies on unrestricted contributions to Annual Giving to help make up the difference between tuition and the actual cost of educating a child. These funds are used in the budget to assist in providing a broader, more well equipped curriculum and program.
All donations to Annual Giving, no matter the size, are important to the Academy and are deeply appreciated. Each gift expresses support and commitment to the educational quality and challenge that the Academy represents.

Why do you conduct Annual Giving each year?
Funds raised for Annual Giving are used to support the operating budget of the school.
How much should I contribute to Annual Giving?
It has always been hoped that, as direct beneficiaries of Annual Giving, every family at The Montgomery Academy would choose to make a contribution each year that their child attends the Academy. Annual Giving gifts range in size from $5 to $5,000 or more. High participation in Annual Giving is a goal for each year.
Are these gifts tax deductible?
Gifts to non-profit educational institutions qualify as charitable contributions and are tax deductible as allowed by law.
Can I give stock?
You may transfer appreciated stock to the Academy as a contribution. Please contact the Advancement Office at 334-272-8210 for information.
Who contributes to Annual Giving?
Alumni/ae, parents, faculty and staff, the Board of Directors, past parents, grandparents and friends participate in Annual Giving each year. Their contributions play an important role in the success of Annual Giving.
What is a matching gift?
Many companies offer a matching gift program that will increase a donor's gift to the school. Contact your company's personnel office for information on eligibility and gift forms that must accompany your gift.
