Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Department is a dynamic and evolving program which seeks to provide our students with significant opportunities for discovering their own creative potential and avenues for self-expression.  We provide a sequenced, spiraling K-12 program designed to prepare students for a lifetime of creative activity. Our discipline-based art education approach emphasizes art production and appreciation through a variety of traditional and contemporary experiences, art history, and art criticism. Our students receive  well-rounded exposure and instruction in every major visual art discipline as we seek to nurture the individual needs of our students. In the rooms of our well-equipped art facilities, our students receive the  guidance and training in technical and conceptual skills  that develop them into critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, compassionate human beings and life-long learners. These qualities ensure success and excellence in education, inform and augment their college level pursuits, and lay the groundwork for becoming art advocates, professional artists, art educators, and aware, productive leaders. Moreover, these skills provide the basis for a fulfilling and culturally enriched life.
