Grades 1-5 Admissions Process
Admission to The Montgomery Academy is competitive. Therefore, in order to accurately gauge an applicant’s potential for success, applicants are evaluated using three instruments: Admissions Testing, a Teacher Evaluation, and a Transcript Request Form. Past school grades and standardized-test scores are also considered. Families who are new to the Academy are required to take a campus tour as part of the admissions process.
- Admissions Testing
Each applicant will take an admissions test that evaluates a candidate’s ability and achievement. This test is scheduled by the Admissions Office after an application is received and is administered by the Lower School Guidance Counselor. Testing lasts approximately one hour and a half.
- Confidential Teacher Evaluations
An applicant’s current teacher assists the Admissions Office in getting to know a candidate by completing the Confidential Teacher Recommendation Form, which enables the teacher to evaluate the applicant's cognitive and developmental skills. These forms should not be given to the applicant’s teacher until after January 1, 2017. If the applicant has multiple teachers, it is permissible to collect more than one recommendation.
- Transcript Request Form
An applicant’s parent or guardian must sign the Transcript Request Form and deliver it to the applicant’s current school. The current school will then submit the requested test scores and a copy of the applicant’s transcript to the Admissions Office. Please sign and give the form to your child's current school after January 1, 2017.
